Coastal

Jotron offers high-performance VHF FM and AM radios, Voice Communication Systems (VCS), and recorder systems for coastal and offshore air and sea traffic communication. This includes high-quality communication equipment approved for use in inland waterways in Europe. Maritime authorities in several countries rely on advanced Jotron VHF FM radios, VCS, and Ricochet recorders in their Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) systems.
Our areas of expertise
Maritime traffic control and communication
Efficient maritime traffic management depends on clear, secure, and reliable communication. Jotron delivers high-performance voice communication solutions that help authorities streamline vessel movement, improve regional accessibility, and reduce time and operating costs for skippers. Our systems support key services such as regional registration, pilotage, and berth agreements through a single point of contact. As traffic areas expand, Jotron Simulcast provides clear, synchronized transmission across all channels, delivering exceptional voice quality over waterways spanning hundreds of miles. Together with Jotron’s Geographic Diversity technology, controllers automatically receive the conversations relevant to their area - helping reduce errors, strengthen situational awareness, and improve maritime safety.
Coastal and port authorities
Coastal authorities worldwide require communication systems that perform in both everyday operations and demanding emergency situations. We supply VHF coastal radio systems with outstanding speech clarity, including DSC-capable radios and VoIP radio remote control units compliant with the latest ED-137 standards. These solutions are well suited for ports, offshore installations, and large radio networks countrywide. In busy ports, effective traffic planning is essential for safe and efficient vessel movement. Drawing from decades of experience in recording mission-critical operations, Jotron Ricochet captures voice communications, radar displays, and VTS operator activities - giving operators the insight they need for review, documentation, and investigation.
Inland waterways
Inland waterway transport plays a significant role in the movement of goods between countries and regions. VHF radio communication is used for dynamic and urgent information that requires frequent updates, such as temporary obstructions in the fairway or short-term changes in lock and bridge operation times. Sensor sites are placed at intervals along the river to ensure full coverage of the area. Regular and direct contact between ships and control stations of bridges and locks is key for the exchange of essential information and smooth passage.

Jotron’s systems for inland waterways integrate object control seamlessly with direct links to the communication system following the SCADA protocol. This efficient system stimulates the flow on waterways, and smooth passage is crucial for the economy and for security. It also contributes to more efficient use of fuel and thus has a positive impact on the environment.
