October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, an opportunity to highlight the importance of cybersecurity and the role we all play in creating a safer digital environment.

At Jotron, this year’s theme is Digital Judgement: Small choices, big consequences. It reflects a simple but important principle: cybersecurity is not only about technology, it is also about the decisions people make and how information is handled every day.

As a provider of critical safety products and systems for the maritime and aviation industries, Jotron has always put safety first. Cybersecurity is an important part of this commitment.

Good cybersecurity starts with good digital judgement

Technology continues to evolve, bringing new opportunities as well as new cybersecurity challenges. Whether clicking a link, sharing information, sending documents electronically or using an AI tool. Seemingly small decisions can have a significant impact on information security. This is what we mean by digital judgement: taking a moment to consider potential risks before acting. Cybersecurity measures can provide important layers of protection, but technology alone cannot address every risk. Strong information security also depends on good processes, awareness and people making informed decisions.

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility

Jotron is certified in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 27001:2023, supporting our systematic approach to managing information security risks. However, our commitment to information security extends beyond ISO 27001. As a supplier to safety-critical industries, we operate in an environment where standards and regulations continue to evolve. This includes requirements from EASA, as well as expectations from customers, suppliers, and business partners. Meeting these requirements is not a one-time activity. It requires continuous attention.

While systems and procedures provide essential protection, awareness and sound judgement are equally important. Cybersecurity Awareness Month gives us an opportunity to put additional focus on these everyday choices and encourage conversations about how we can contribute to a safer digital environment.
